Wise Wednesday #4

It's that time of the week again, friends! Let's talk about my faith again & how study abroad is virtually changing my life.

I've always heard people say, when they come back from months abroad, that they will never be the same. I can positively say that I will not. I am not the same person who hopped off a plane at Heathrow 2 months ago. Not even close. I'm pretty sure everyone can agree, though, that abroad makes you a better person. You don't really change negatively... You grow as a person & into the person you're meant to be. In my case, that means my faith just keeps growing & I am becoming more of who God wants me to be.

This week, my Bible study took me into Hebrews 11. In my version, the entire chapter is called "What is faith?" Well, I think many of us have what my mom calls "head knowledge." We know what faith is supposed to look like, but do we have the heart knowledge to accompany it? The child like faith we are supposed to have? I know I didn't previously but I sure do now. The chapter explains everything various people, from David to Joseph to Moses, accomplished due to their faith. These people accomplished AMAZING things... all this causes me to think is this... Imagine what God has in store for me if I stop trying to live my own way. I can accomplish the most amazing things... but only through faith.

I'm also still reading "Battlefield of the Mind." That book is just downright challenging to my life! Not in a hard way to read but because it actually makes me constantly think about what I'm thinking. On top of the point I made in my previous, Joyce talks about how we are changing for the better all the time. "Every day you're growing spiritually. God has a glorious plan for your life. These are the truths you must think upon." One of the things she mentions we should meditate on is how much God loves us. She was talking about how God once said to her, "Very few of my people really know how much I love them. If they did, they would act differently." If we want to change our lives for the better, our minds need to be focused around Godly things.

We talked about this on Sunday in church. We cannot truly love those around us if we don't experience God's love for ourselves. My goal for this week was to act more lovingly to those around me. I think we will truly see a difference in our circumstances when we act as though God loves us. I challenge you this week to focus on your faith & God's love. Imagine what we can do if we have faith & act in love. We can pretty much do anything.

Snippets of my faith. I hope these challenge you in the same way they are challenging me. Growing in your faith is not easy sometimes, I can truly say that, but it is absolutely worth it. To know that someone is there for you, even in the hardest of times, is a comfort I've never felt before. Keep growing friends & thanks again for your prayers.

Daily update coming later!
