This week, since I am sans laptop, most of my posts will be lovely photographs from my phone & short snippets of my days here. Don't worry- lots of photos are being taken on my camera to share with you once I return. But excuse my spelling errors- my keyboard is a bit small!
In case you don't know this yet, I am on spring break right now in Florence, Italy. Coming to Italy has always been a HUGE dream of mine & here I am! I am beyond blessed to be on this adventure. We are spending the week in Florence, exploring the city & doing day trips out. We wanted a relaxing vacation so we selected a smaller city. Unlike a lot of students who pick Madrid or other party locations, we wanted to relax & explore some history. I am happy with our decision!
We scored a cute little Airbnb, owned by an Italian man who stocked our kitchen & left us all the essentials we could need. It's a clean place & so comfy! No complaints :) I'll give you a full review once we return home!
I just wrote out this whole rest of the post & accidentally clicked out... so here's my recap again!
We flew in yesterday evening, on a Spanish airline... everything was in Spanish... needless to say, I understood nothing & relied on hand motions! It was a really easy 2 hour flight & not too bumpy! I appreciated that.
We arrived in Florence & customs was a breeze. Not a single question was asked & boom, I was in Italy! We were forced to check a bag, for free, because the flight was full but our luggage made it on time & off to the city we went!
We arrived to our place & met the owner. He was a super nice Italian man, with restaurant recommendations & lots of advice for us. We even had a map & guide book for us to borrow. He left & we went off to find some dinner.
We found a place called Gusta around the corner. The food wasn't mind blowing but the wine was delicious. The bread here is very different - less flavorful, as it is meant to be used to soak up extra sauce. But I had really yummy wine so I'm not complaining.
We came back, watched a bit of TV in Italian & went to sleep. Travelling can be very exhausting! I've come to learn that I'm more of a vacationer than a traveller. I like relaxed exploring not trips that are go go go from the get-go. Also, I'm not a HUGE lover of art... I much prefer a hike & some natural scenery. I guess that's what I get for hiking all summer!
Today, we woke up & went to the Boblio Gardens. They had some gorgeous views of the city. It would probably be much prettier later on in the spring but was worth the trip. We had lunch & explored an art museum, (I'll look up the name for you when I get home. Sorry art history friends!) We had some Gelato & walked around. Now we're resting a bit before dinner & maybe some more exploring.
Enjoy my photographs below! Many more to come at the end of my adventure!
