I suppose you're ready for my weekly post regarding things I am thankful for here in London. As always, I think we can never be too thankful & should take the time to express our thankfulness. It makes us into more grateful humans & really can change your outlook on life. So here's to a more positive outlook on life & learning to be grateful. (side note? I don't really remember what I've previously posted, so if I repeat, forgive me.)
1. I'm thankful for Costa. I'm convinced (forgive me now, family) that it actually tastes better than Starbucks... before I start World War III, some drinks are better! The variety is not there... but the croissants are. I am so thankful for those buttery little pastries. If you know anything about me, you know I LOVE bread. Love love love it. I can eat a whole baguette by myself, honestly. But the bread just tastes better here. And Costa, your coffee & pastries make my day. They even have a croissant with hazelnut & chocolate in it... melting... I hate you, though, because you have a shop located about 100 ft. from my door. It's taunting. Also, your slogan? "For coffee lovers." On point Costa, right on point.
My favorite food looks something like this...
2. I'm grateful for the sun. Honestly, I cannot say this enough - I am so glad I was not in Upstate NY this winter. I haven't experienced a single bit of snow since being here (though I do miss it, A LITTLE). But the weather has been relatively mild & I actually get to see the sun! That's something a lot of you can't say. Sometimes the sun wakes me up long before my alarm goes off but I am learning to be grateful. Being woken up by the sun isn't a bad thing! In fact, it's a reminder that I'm blessed to see the sun & not be covered up to my head in snow.
3. I'm grateful midterms are almost over. Midterms are the sign of spring break, mama bear's visit, & that I am halfway through the semester. I hate testing & being in a super cool city makes studying for them even harder! But I'm learning... school does come first, as I need to keep my grades up for potential graduate school. But I am never more grateful than when my last test is handed in & I am free of school-related worries for a week. The relief!
4. I am grateful for Skype & Viber. Viber is my method of choice when contacting people from home. It allows us to text over WiFi or data & let's me keep in contact with pretty much anyone! Skype allows me to actually see the faces of the people I love & nothing gets better than that. I don't know how I would survive this adventure without these two applications. They make me still feel connected to the people I love at home & allow me to share my adventures with them! Plus... it's a lot quicker than little old snail mail!
I'm grateful for this experience in general. Most like, never again am I going to have the opportunity to move away for 3.5 months & experience another country. This adventure has changed me for the better & I'm so excited to see where the rest of my adventure is going to take me.
Happy Thursday!
