Day 2 Adventures

So you already got lots of pictures from today, here's the recap!  It's only 5pm but we're back in our flat to relax for a bit before heading out to dinner.

Today was, sadly, a bit rainy here. The first few hours were quite nice! We headed to the Palazzo Vecchio, a palace owned by the Medici family. (Excuse my spellings- looking them up while on this Blogger app is super annoying!) They're arguably the most powerful family in Italian history. The ceilings in this place we're absolutely gorgeous! Most ceilings in historic European buildings are the most magnificent part.

We left the palace & headed to lunch with a friend who is studying abroad here. She just returned from her spring break & met with us for lunch. Delicious as always, though not my favorite. It was good but not mind blowing like I expected. We all hung out & talked for quite a bit about our different abroad experiences. She had just returned from Barcelona & Nice - she loved Spain! Sadly, I will not be heading to Spain this semester but that's okay with me! I get to see a lot of other cool places & am perfectly content.

After lunch, we parted ways. Jake & I headed to check out the Duomo. The inside was nothing spectacular, minus the height & main ceiling. Those parts were awesome! We followed a staircase into the basement, expecting the crypts, & only found the gift shop... incredibly deceiving but really smart on their part! We didn't spend too much time in the building, as the outside is actually much prettier!

We then headed for some Gelato at a place not too far from us. My best friend had recommended it, as she studied here 2 years ago, & it was well worth it! Delicious! So we headed home with full stomachs for some rest time.

This city has captured my heart. I would absolutely come back someday- it's rich with history & so relaxed! London is always on the go- it's nice to be in such a slow paced city. I'm grateful we chose this as our spring break. We are getting to see a lot but relax as well... and eat! This isn't a city you can see all of in just one weekend - you need 4 days probably, so our 5 spent here is just perfect. I'm happy & ever so grateful.

Well, I'm off to relax for a bit then head back out for dinner. Hope you all had a great weekend!
