Today, I had the pleasure of spending the majority of my day either on or along the Thames River.
For those of you who don't know, this is the major river running through London. Ya know the song "London Bridge is falling down?" Well... the London Bridge crosses the Thames. (Pronounced tems. Odd, I know).
So my day started with a solo venture to the other side of the river. I got to the site a bit early so I stopped for a coffee. My time in Starbucks was spent chatting with two small children, aged 4&7 who were waiting for their dad to get his coffee. They wanted to know who I was talking to on my phone, which was my mom. They then asked where she was and when I said "America" they were so excited! They told me they were visiting their grandparents in London. Such a precious memory!
I then headed on a 45 minute cruise/boat tour down the river. The sites were incredible! Pictures are at the bottom!
I then spend about half an hour on the London Eye. We took our flight at about sunset, which made for spectacular views! It was well worth it and I would do it again in a heartbeat.
Then we headed back to relax. Eventually we ventured to a diner down the street with some fantastic American food. We might become regulars, as it is open until 4am. Love it!
Well, I'm off to bed. It's 2am here in London and I have another day of events tomorrow.
Living in this city has taught me to just stop and look around. I can get so caught up in my daily routine at home that I forget to look around me and appreciate the little things. This trip has encouraged me to look for the little things. And so far, lots of little things in this amazing city have captured my heart. I'm truly blessed to be here and exploring.
But I do miss America sometimes, don't get me wrong. I miss yall too! More photos to come tomorrow!
