Tonight/ today were GORGEOUS! We hit about 75 here today - && I was completely unprepared for how warm that truly is.
Sadly, I spent my day in class... BOO! But our professor was nice, in my first class, & did the introduction of the painting outside on the steps outside the Tate Britain. I was grateful for the few minutes of sunshine I managed. We then ate at Dirty Burger. Our professor recommended it & actually ended up eating with us. It was pretty good!
I don't have much time between classes on Wednesdays to get between the museum & my next class, so I always stop to eat at a random coffee shop or burger joint. This was perfect! I then headed to my next class, which was sadly conducted inside. But I did take the long way home today, in order to experience the weather.
Then tonight, I headed to a football match! It was gorgeous when we first arrived but got a bit chilly towards the end. I was grateful for such a clear, dry night! The match ended 1-1 but it was fun to watch & we had great seats!
Got to see the sunset
Now for some wisdom. Or what I perceive to be wisdom.
This week has been nuts so I sadly haven't been digging into Joyce's or Max's books as much as before. BOO! I'll be jumping back into them ASAP. Instead, I have some awesome life information I learned in church on Sunday. If it's cool with you, I'd LOVE to share that!
This Sunday's service was about living your life with purpose & "running the race with endurance." Even just the title was powerful. It was all about how life is a race & we need to run it with endurance. If we don't, we get burnt out & give up!
So the five steps the pastor presented are as follows:
- Enjoy the journey
- Be committed to growth & a life of learning
- Value Sunday &&&&& MIDWEEK
- Celebrate moments along the way
- You last the distance by not getting tired
- Believe in the transformative power of Jesus to change anyone & any circumstance around you
I want to focus on the last one. Wow. I think far too often we believe circumstances & people are unchangeable. That situation we complain about - sometimes we believe is unfixable. But when we truly trust in the Lord, miracles start to happen. They might be little things - someone's attitude changes, someone finally accepts our invitation to come to church...etc. But these things won't happen if we don't ask for them & aren't believing.
To quote the pastor - "IF we aren't careful, we can believe people can't change. What a load of rubbish. Anything is possible."
Phillipians 4:13 "All things are possible with God." (excuse my spelling.)
It's time to start believing & expecting. Lastly, the enjoy the moment point hit me hard. Sometimes we rush through life & don't take time to actually enjoy what we are experiencing. I am SO guilty of that here in London. Sometimes I get so struck by what I am missing at home that I forget to appreciate what is happening around me in this amazing city. Time to focus more on appreciating what is around me!
So that's my little TID BIT for the day.
ENJOY!
