Today was an eventful day that started out much later than intended, as I explained before. We slept in a bit longer than expected today. However, I feel much more on schedule as a result.
Side note, British television is quite the scene. Their version of "Cops" is a lot less eventful then our version. For instance, a girl was just chasing a suspect and was basically walking. Another episode features a cop asking their higher up whether or not they can chase a suspect. It seems like cops here are much more polite!
Back to today's adventures. We wandered through a store called Boots. No, it doesn't sell boots! It's actually a pharmacy. Salisbury is a grocery store as well as Marks & Spencer. It can be very difficult living in a place where you don't recognize the names of any stores! Argos sells housewares, where at home the go to place is bed, bath and beyond!
So after wandering in this area, we saw what looked like a castle. Also, in this post by "we" I mean my roommates and I. We decided to head towards it and it ended up being the House of Parliament. (Sorry if any of my names of places are wrong- naive America! ) Before that we saw some incredible buildings and embassy places. It is incredible to see the gorgeous building here and admire how old they are.
We eventually found Westminster Abbey but we just missed visiting hours. So we saw Big Ben (which has a proper name that I can't remember currently, sorry John!). We also got to see the Eye and the Thames River.
All in all, the pictures and sights were incredible! Loving this place more day by day! I do miss America though- I miss everyone and the ease of small town living. So many differences but a lot of similarities.
Cheers!
It's okay. I know every store you are mentioning, but you will get used to it. You should go to a store called Tescos and get some awesome British candy or "sweets". Oh and by the way the Big Ben is actually called Elizabeth Tower. It was named after Queen Elizabeth the 2nd and the bell inside is called Big Ben. Let me know if you want to know anything else.
