Day 2

Today was a day of exploring, purchases, ID cards, and food.

As an American, or as a young adult I suppose, I am constantly using my phone to share my experiences and especially pictures! So as you can imagine, not having cell service was a bit of a problem. So we ventured over to this cute little shop called http://www.three.co.uk and purchased SIM cards for our phones. What continues to amaze me is how cheap cell service is here!!! The SIM card and first month of service cost 15 pounds (approx. $25 or less!). AND get this - it has unlimited data!

So thank you Jonathan for all your research resulting in this WONDERFUL purchase! I luckily am able to Viber, Snapchat, Instagram, and blog from wherever and whenever! It sounds like something so typical of an American but it can be quite intimating to wonder London without the comfort Google Maps provides.

Yes, our apartment is fully furnished but fully furnished sadly does not mean the place comes with food. So after a slightly uninteresting orientation regarding transportation, we headed to find a grocery store. I luckily found one with a rewards program (such an American) but if it saves money, in the most expensive city in the world, I'll take it.

The apartment is beautiful - here's some photos of our common areas. We do have a balcony, but it is unusable for safety reasons.

Only negative? Incredibly small compared to American rooms and the bed is... um nice? Not comfortable at all and warranted a mattress pad in order to sleep comfortably.

Speaking of sleep - my internal clock is completely thrown off. I tried to sleep around 12 our time, only to wake up an hour later. Considering this was 7 or 8 at home, my body thought this was nap time. So I was finally able to sleep around 3:30am (10:30 at home). All in all, not a bad night's rest and after the adventure we had trying to get here, I'll take it

All in all - getting used to living the city life. Completely different from life at home (especially Upstate New York) but definitely worth it!

Typical photo of London Underground (tube, metro, subway, whatever you choose to call it!)

Also, side note, apparently trash here is called rubbish. Trying to pick up as many fun words and phrases as I can!
